We believe that God is love and power and truth and light.
Our heritage comes from the Old Catholic Church. The Liberal Catholic Church is an independent Catholic Church, which separated from Rome in 1870, when Pope Pius IX declared that he was infallible on matters of faith and morals. In 1916, the Old Catholic Church in Great Britain changed its name to the Liberal Catholic Church. We have strictly maintained the Apostolic Succession of Bishops, Priests... and Deacons since our original affiliation with Rome, to ensure that our Holy Orders and Sacraments remain valid. Open communion is offered to all who approach Christ’s altar with reverence and respect. We offer the seven Catholic Sacraments, with intellectual and religious freedom of conscience. Our Mass is traditional and is based on the old Tridentine Mass, pre-Vatican II, and is said or sung in the language of the people. Christ embraced His fellow man with Love, and we follow His example. We believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist through the mystery of Transubstantiation. We do not have the rule of celibacy. Our priests may marry should they so desire. Our parish property is governed by an elected vestry and board of church parishioners. We do not demand that our parishioners accept our principles and teachings in the form of dogma, under pain of sin or excommunication. We believe in forgiveness rather than judgment. Besides our great reverence toward the Blessed Sacrament, we have a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, including a special Franciscan form of the Rosary. The governing body of The Liberal Catholic Church is a synod of bishops from all over the world, which elects its own Presiding Bishop. This General Episcopal Synod meets every seven years to discuss matters pertinent to the welfare of the Church. The Liberal Catholic Church is an independent Catholic rite, headed by Bishop Graham Wale, in London, England. We believe the Deposit of Faith which Jesus gave to the Apostles is a self-evident Truth which needs no dogmatic justification. The Liberal Catholic Bishops have maintained the ancient and organic link to this original Deposit of Faith through the unbroken line of Apostolic Succession. Merry Christmas, Everyone!! We have some exciting events coming up!! Tomorrow night, Christmas Eve, Vespers followed by Solemn Benediction will begin at 7:00 pm. Monday, Christmas Morning, Mass will begin at 10:00 am A Memorial Service to honor those amazing souls who have moved to a higher life in 2017 will be held on December 29, 2017 at 9:00 am. Christmas Sunday mass is at 10:00 am on December 31, 2017. Mass celebrating the Solemnity of Mary is at 9:00 am on January 1, 2018. Rosary followed by Solemn Benediction is at 7:00 pm on January 3, 2018. Epiphany Sunday mass is at 10:00 am on January 7, 2018. Requiem Mass for LeAnn Puglisi is at 9:00 am on January 8, 2018. We hope to see you at as many of these services as you can!
We have just had an update from Bishop Downey in Ojai: We and babies and doggies are safe about 100 miles north of Ojai. We will stay at least another night here. Fire still not controlled in Ojai but we believe our homes and Church and Provincial properties are still safe. Air quality is poor so in addition to continued danger from fire we must stay away especially for the babies.
I have just spoken with our Regionary Abp William Downey, who has requested prayers on behalf of our Provincial Pro-Cathedral in Ojai, California, where wildfires are burning out of control. Bp William and all his family and pets are safely evacuated from Ojai and are on their way to a location further up the coast, where they have been able to secure rooms. 27,000 people have been evacuated in the Ventura/Ojai region due to this fire, so the situation in the area is dire. Please pray for our Pro-Cathedral; for Bp William and his family; for all who have been evacuated/threatened/harmed by this fire. When I know more I’ll email again; I’ll also post updates to the LCCUSA Facebook page.

To the Our Lady Queen of Angels Parishioners: Thank you so much for your outpouring of love in response to hearing that LeAnn is ill. However, because of the overwhelming number of visitors, the family asks that no one visit LeAnn at this time. She needs to rest so that she heals. Cards and small token gifts are welcome. LeAnn cannot talk at present so phone calls cannot be answered or returned. Her nurses are not receptionists or operators so please don’t call the nursing station either. They can’t give out information and they have LeAnn and other patients to care for. The family will communicate with Fr. Timothy and Sr. MaryArthen and they will share news with you as a group. As LeAnn improves, that news will be shared and visitors will be allowed in gradually increasing numbers. Again, your love and prayers are appreciated but let’s get LeAnn well before she starts to party again.
